Operational Planning

What makes a useful site services brief?

Connect the site, the scope and the people responsible before mobilisation begins.

A well-defined service brief gives the client and delivery team a shared starting point. For facilities, grounds or environmental operations, it should describe the work in the context of the site.

Begin with the place

Describe the property or operating site, its users and its working hours. Identify existing service arrangements and the constraints that a delivery team needs to understand.

Define the service boundary

Separate ongoing activities from one-off improvements. Make responsibilities explicit, including which tasks remain with the client or another specialist provider. Note the site-specific technical requirements that need qualified review.

Connect resources to the work

Discuss the people, equipment, access and coordination the scope requires. A mobilisation plan should follow the agreed operating needs.

Agree how delivery will be reviewed

Define the reporting cadence, contact points and escalation process. Reviews should help the teams understand what is working and which requirements have changed.

The aim is a working agreement that supports clear communication from assessment through to everyday delivery.
